Vacation 2010 The summer holiday were not succesful trainwise, so I had to wait to autumn to get some. We went to Munich for a week, so it was a simple matter to visit the "Hbf".

US tour 2010 One of us suggested that we could take a trip to the US to se some american trains. It wasn't long before we all had made plans to go. We would see Cajon Pass, the Tehacpapi loop, Barstow, Needles and Kingman stations. It turned out to be a great trip.

Summer vacation 1983 Well, that was a while ago. My first summer vacation with my current wife ;-) We went to Munich by train - of course - where we stayed a few days. Then we went back to Hamburg again by train, where we also stayed a few days. Already at that time I told her where my interest were at. So I got my time at the stations.

Madrid 1992 As a part of a spanish language course I got to go to Spain to test my new abilities and try to work there. In between I got enough time to snoop around the spanish railways. I visited three stations and the railroad museum.

Summer vacation 1994 The wife and I took a train ride to Lugano and Salzburg. Not much time for railroads, but I did manage to sneak up to the stations.

Utrecht 1998 Every year (almost) we take a trip to Utrecht, Nederlands, to shop. And I (of course) also go to Eurospoor. You pass the station going to the exhibition, hence these pictures.

Summer vacation 1999 We packed the car and went south. This time to Lucern and surroundings. We also took a small trip to the Gotthard route, which I saw for the first time (yes, I did run thru' it in '94 but just imagine to stand by Wassen church and touch it . . . ). After some days we once again went to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It just is a wonderful place.

Swiss tour 2000 Together with two friends I went on a men-only trip to Switzerland. We started in Basel and went on to Gotthard visiting Lucern and both Gotthard ramps. We ended up on the BLS - Lötchbergbahn, where we also saw the Bietchtal bridge.

Summer vacation 2000 This year we didn't go far away. Only to Celle by Hannover in Germany for a week and a half.

Swiss tour 2001 Once again with the same two friends I went on a men-only trip to Switzerland. We started on the Gotthard and found new places to photograph and to photograph from. Once again we ended up on the BLS, where we spent some dedicated time on and around Blausee-Mitholz.

Summer vacation 2001 Another road trip to the alps. This time I showed the wife the places, me and my friends went: Gurtnellen on the Gotthard and Kandersteg on the BLS. Afterwards we once again went to our beloved Garmisch-Partenkirchen with a day tour to Munich.

Swiss tour 2002 Another tradition is born. For the third time in a row me and my friends packed my car and drove to Switzerland. This time we started in Delemont, went on to Bahlstal, Lausanne and Brig. Brig gave us the oppertunity to wander along the south ramp of the BLS Lötchbrgbahn. Highly recommended. On to Domodossola, Locarno and Biasca. A day trip to Milan to see the station - and back via Luino. A wonderful and expensive train ride. And then back to Gotthard to take some more pictures.

"Vogelfluchtlinie" 40 years 2003 May 24. 2003 the 40 year celebration of the "Vogelfluchtlinie" - celebrated with lots of real trains in Puttgarden. And a trip with the danish museum train forth and back.

Summer vacation 2003 As before - off to the alps. This time on "Autozug" from Hamburg-Altona to Basel while sleeping. We went directly to Sedrun on the Oberalppass. A wonderful place to go wandering. After a few days there we drove on towards Garmisch, but we stopped over two days in Bludenz, Austria. Arlberg is also a terrific place to walk around. A couple of days in Garmisch and ending the vacation with two days in Munich.

Swiss tour 2003 This year we started on the Brenner Pass, where we in mixed weather saw some interesting trains and landscape. A few days there and a few on Arlberg Pass on our way to Gotthard. This time we concentrated our time around Wassen due to the fact, that our model railroad club is about to build this in model. We also had found some new places to explore, as can be seen. We ended our tour i Zürich Limmattal, where the 5. Märklin Swiss Collection was revealed - "fascinating . . . "

Clonmel 2003 Because of my daughters education, which brought her to Ireland, we were to spend christmas in Clonmel. So I got a little time to see some irish trains. Unfortunately no trains were running due to a collapsed waybridge.

Summer vacation 2004 Yet another trip to he Alps - we just love it there - and again by car train. This time we started out by Königsee, a place I always have wanted to see. I thought you could walk around the lake, but no. But it is a beautiful place. Berchtesgaden has a darling little station, but Rosenheim was also intriguing. After a few days we went on to Kandersteg via Luzern. Kandersteg and surroundings are a wonderful place to wander - especially for train nerds. We also stayed a few days in Ausserberg, but the weather was better in Kandersteg.

Köln 2004 Every second year there is a big exhibition, where many producers show their stuff. The trip back and forth is of course one big treat.

Swiss tour 2005 This year we started in Olten, where we were looking for steam. And we found it. Then we followed the SOB from Romanshorn to Rapperswil. The rest of the time we were on the Gotthard. We were supposed to relax a bit, but we came to race about anyway because we discovered so many new things . . .

Swiss tour 2006 Since the NEAT-tunnel under the Lötchberg have made good progress we decided to see the traffic on the line maybe for the last time. But weekends are not the best of times to watch railroad traffic, since the cargo-part is off to spend the weekend at home. But there was a little traffic. After that itwas back to the Gotthard route as usual. And we have found some new places to explore, plus we got some nice surprises.

Summer vacation 2006 This year we set out to try something different. The family have always talked positively about Toscana, so we set out to try that. We stayed in Figline Valdarno, and went out from there. Including Firenze where we shopped a bit and visited the station. Figline station and Arezzo station were also visited.

Berlin/Innotrans 2006 Through my company I got tickets to Innotrans 2006 in Berlin - an experience I would not go past my nose. I had never been in Berlin so this was a speciel experience. The exhibition was exciting too - especially because you can go into the trains. So we were inside the speed record holding Taurus 1216 050. It was a verybig exhibition, so we didn't get to see everything inside, but we will come back in 2008 for more.

Swiss tour 2007 We went there a bit earlier this year because of the celebration of the 125 years of Gotthard. A "little" thing we wouldn't miss for the world. Unfortunately the weathergods did not look kindly our ways so we and our pictures got a little wet. So we spent a little time indoors as well. We were on the Gotthard for the whole trip just to make sure we didn't miss anything.

Vacation 2007 Yet again we took a trip to Switzerland. We weather was not showing off at its best, so there was a bit more time for trains. Even though we rented a car we decided to take the train to some of our small tours so we didn't have to look for parking spots. The trip went over Rigi and Spiez to Brig with a couple of sleepovers each place. We concluded our vacation in Kandersteg - a favorite spot of mine.

Swiss tour 2008 We started off in Hamburg visiting "Miniatur Wunderland" and Hamburg-Harburg. I did not take pictures of the modeltrains, since there are a lot of books and magazines covering that. Harburg was a treat regarding freight trains - even for a friday evening. We drove towards Brenner during the night with a little detour to Grosskarolinenfeld where there were a set og transversals I'd like to see. On to Brenner via Kufstein and Innsbruck. From Brenner we went over Arlberg to Ziegebrücke. A short stop there and moving on over the Klausenpass to Gotthard, where we were the rest of the time. A new wandering path was opened which revealed a lot of new "angles" to wellknown sites.

Swiss tour 2009 Departure friday morning southbound - first stop Leipzig. We saw the rain station and a fiddle yard a bit east of Leipzig. From there onwards to "Deuthes Dampflokmuseum" in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg, where we were all morning. We went pretty much stright towards Gotthard from there, but we stopped over in Rotkreuz, where train from and to Gotthard go trough. The rest of the tour was a happy reunion with old places; Erstfeld, Göschnen, Biasca, Biascina osv. We did manage to find some new places just south of Airolo, where there was a curve. And we went to Bellinzona and onwards towards Luino to see the one-track line, that also is used for freigt trains.
